Website Analysis
By Jake Attaway and Grace Harris
The logo or name "Imagine Dragons" which is shown at the top of the webpage shows a clear distinction between the name of the band and the albums they have released as this exact font is shown across the albums to create a house style and make sure that the audience are aware that they are both in fact by the same band.
The colours used within this website clearly show a consistent house style throughout all of the pages and it also relates very well to the genre of music due to the fact that it portrays a very dark and gloomy nature. Furthermore the use of these dark colours presents to the fans and other viewers of the website that the band are consistent in their design which therefore shows the professionalism of the band.
Something that I found which was a prominent aspect of the website was the information surrounding tours both past and present. The website clearly showcased merchandise surrounding the tours that the band had done and through this advertising they are able to entice fans to go to concerts in the future after seeing how amazing and popular the previous ones were.
Another aspect of the website which was very much noticeable was the interactivity element of it. It was clear through going through and analysing the website that the interaction between the band and their fans was very important to them and therefore they would use images from social media to show people what they were getting up too. Also it gave people the opportunity to sign up for a weekly update on the bands movements and this interactive feature the website has provided allows fans to feel like they are closer to the band and it will hence increase their followings.
Final thing I noticed was the use of the task bar at the top of the page as it gave the user the opportunity to access, news, Tour, Music ,videos, photos and many more and this variety of separate sub pages enhances the information that fans can get from the site and it saves them from going to any other webpage to find the information as it is all present within their very own site. It is an essential aspect of the site due to the fact that the diversity of pages gives the user the choice of what they want to look at rather than restrict their surfing.

Fall Out Boy
Imagine Dragons

The first thing I noticed when going through the website of Fall Out Boy was that the main navigation bar was very similar to that of the Imagine Dragons website as it provided the users with the opportunity to access specific pages such as videos, photos and touring information. This information that is provided on the site shows how important it is as it is included in multiple sites and therefore the users will be able to access pivotal info.
The next key aspect of the site that I discovered when analysing was the inclusion of the album cover as the main image at the top of the page when you first open the site. This inclusion of the album cover presents continuity and a direct link between the band and their site which will portray a professional and eye grabbing website because of the recognisable image shown and hence meaning the users will understand the connection between the two separate types of media.

The final feature I noted was the inclusion and the showcasing of the music video "Irresistible" and "Uma Thurman". This incorporation of the videos provides fans and people who are not so familiar with the work of Fall Out Boy the chance to relive and discover the amazing music they perform. Also by putting these videos on the site it clearly depicts to the users who the website is dedicated too and therefore ensuring continuity throughout.

Another feature that the Fall Out Boy website has is the consistent house style running throughout the whole site. This is shown through the use of the main album photo as shown at the top of the site. Furthermore this use of the image throughout each page along with the consistent use of the white background creates a recognisable house style and means that the users when navigating the site are aware that all the pages are linked.
Conclusion
Once analysing these websites from our chosen genre I can conclude that I will try to include the following features as I feel that it will help in creating an authentic and realistic looking site. The first feature I will use is the inclusion of the Imagine Dragons name/logo at the top of the page as I feel that when looking online it is an important aspect due to the fact that it highlights straight away that it is Imagine Dragons website as the logo or font is so iconic. Another feature I will try to include is the layout of the home navigation bar as on both Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy's websites the navigation bar are very similar giving the user easy, simple and quick access to all the information. Another feature I will try to include in the website is the incorporation of interactivity and social media as I feel this is becoming an essential part of society and other famous websites and so I will try to link Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat etc. Finally I would like to include would be the stereotypically dark and gloomy colour schemes and house style running throughout due to the fact that it relates very much to our chosen genre and also the Imagine Dragons website who's song we are using incorporates the colours shown on their album Night Visions in creating a dark and smoky setting which I believe would be good to include in order to crate a realistic looking website.
Coldplay

Coldplay's website has a variety of colours on it however it still has the dark mystic feel that most alternative rock and indie rock websites have. this is due to the background which has a chalk board effect. This catches the eye of the audience as it makes them intrigued to look at the colourful sections therefore the messages that the group are trying to convey are done so in a fun way. The images all contain a burst of colour which is included in the logo of the album and the logo of Coldplay.

Logo- the logo for Coldplay is also their album cover image. The logo consists of a geometric shape that has an ombre effect of bright vibrant colours which are red, pink, yellow, green, blue and purple. The colours are used for the title as well which is the name of the tour 'Head full of dreams' with the same ombre effect. The name of the band is placed in the left hand corner which is intriguing as your eye is not drawn to this instantly it is drawn into the logo which is placed directly in the middle which goes against the conventions of a typical website.

In the centre of the home page there are multiple images which are all of the same size. these images consist of a link to the most recent tour date and tours that fall on a celebration such as the New Years Eve show. They also have merchandise advertised and important events that Coldplay have attended or been a part of such as the link to watch them on the Graham Norton show. This makes the audience intrigued as to what they can find out for the page and allows the fans to identify the key aspects o the band.

The navigation bar for this website is also something that is very intriguing for the audience. it is something that would catch the audiences attention as each option has an image to the left of it which follows the ombre effect for the logo and the title this adds consistency to the page. The symbols for each page also make the audience more intrigued to find out what each one means.

there is also a variety of options that the user can click on such as the news, tours, musics, videos, timeline, store and allows the user to sign up to the page in order to find out more things they can see and offers they may get on the website for the tours.
An example of how the pages are laid out is shown in the image to the left. Each page has a tabled effect where they have multiple images placed on top of each other. the images catch the audience attention and makes them want to click on them in order to find out more. the videos page has all of the music videos that Coldplay have made which is also another way for the site to entice the audience in and make them more likely to find out more key information.
One Republic

One Republic's website has the dark mystic feel that most alternative rock and indie rock websites have. The background is plain black which is eye caching and draws the attention to the group image. The name of the band is placed in the top of the website in bold which makes it stand out on the page and would also allow the audience to identify straight away what site they are viewing. The album cover is also placed over the image which entices the audience to look at their album and listen to the music that they will like. There is an accent of red text placed below 'The New Album' title which draws the viewers eyes to this text highlighting that it is available everywhere.

The navigation bar is placed in the top left corner of the page.It is small however it does not need to be too big as the website has a roll over effect with the pages being within one page.

The next page allows the audience to identify their new music video 'Lets Hurt Tonight' by making this a statement piece it entices the audience to identify that this band is producing current and edgy music. the background for this page is a bright coral colour this makes the audience more enticed to click on the video as they are more likely to use this is 'click bait' a method of enticing the audience by using the world 'world premiere'.

The next page for this website is to do with the news. This page uses images in order to entice the audience click on the different pages. the images used are of the band professionally which could be a shoot for certain magazines or promotional aspects. there are also images used from converts and festivals that One Republic have attended .

There is then a page showing the events that are coming up. the background colour has alternated from the white back to the coral colour which is a way of the band advertising key events. The events are shown as a brief section which is a way fro the viewers to click onto the website and create more page impressions. The page following this is the bands latest release. this is a list of the songs that the view is able to have a preview from. by including this preview it allows the fans to identify whether they like the music and from this they are able to purchase it. The final section of this website is a page which enables the viewer to sign up in order to receive information to do with the latest updates from One Republic. This can include providing an email and a postcode which enables the fans to receive packs of information for each event within the year.
