This music channel is based in the UK and Ireland, playing the top 40 songs in the chart at that certain time. These programmes tend to be hosted by celebrities, attracting more viewers to the channel. Due to them playing the top 40, there's a variety of genres performing in one programme resulting in a bigger attraction. Common examples of artists performing on this channel include Drake, Taylor Swift, Little Mix, Bruno Mars, etc.

MTV Classic
MTV classic is a subsidiary channel to MTV presenting the hits from the last few decades from the 1950's to the present day. This provides a diversity of genres, attracting an audience as it's likely to play historic songs that people recognise. MTV classic also shows live performances of these bands back when the single was in the charts. Examples of these artists include Elton John, The Beatles, The Who, Beach Boys, etc.

This channel (similarly to MTV classic) is a subsidiary channel to MTV that focuses on the genres R&B, Soul and Reggae. However, despite the style being named in the channel, 'base', it does play old hits that doesn't relate to the selected genres. Examples of artists that feature on this channel include Craig David and The Weeknd.

This channel focuses on displaying electronic dance music with the channel operating on a 24 hour basis. The most common programme played on this channel is the Big Party Tunes, named appropriately for their target audience of people at parties. This programme involves the most popular songs during that period. Examples of artists on this channel includes Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Skrillex and Martin Garrix.

This music channel is focused on playing different variations of rock from alternative rock to heavy rock. This channel is on for 24 hours a day playing rock tunes from present day to when rock first evolved in the 60's by bands such as Rolling Stones and The Beatles. However the more common artists played on this channel includes The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Stereophonics and Green Day.
This channel is most appropriate for our music video as it focuses on alternative rock which is the genre our music video is going to be based on. This was provide a more realistic view to our music video.

4 music is a music station owned by channel 4, (hence the number 4 in it's name), that plays the genres pop and dance. The target audience of the channel varies on ages due to it being easily available on Freeview as well as Sky and Virgin Media. The songs that are played on this channel can be from 10-15 years ago which will attract a further audience. Examples of artists that perform on this channel includes Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Little Mix and Shawn Mendez.
Kiss TV was launched in 1998 as a follow up from the radio station Kiss FM to to provide an additional platform for revenue. The channel focuses on the genres R&B and Hip Hop yet narrows its target audience to focus on females indicated by the feminine name of 'Kiss'. Artists such as Bruno Mars and Little Mix perform on this channel.


Kerrang was a channel that was launched back in 2001 between the two companies, BMG and Channel 4 after the development of the magazine and the radio station providing an alternative revenue stream. The channel focuses on the genres heavy metal and hard rock with artists including Green Day, Linkin Park and Biffy Clyro commonly featuring on the channel.







I've expanded my knowledge on music videos by watching them live at home providing me with a further understanding of the genres and styles of music each channel features. Furthermore, watching each channel allowed me to understand the styles of videos that are performed for each each genre.
